Professor Abbe Brown is Chair in Intellectual Property Law at the University of Aberdeen and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Abbe is admitted to practice in England and Wales, Victoria (Australia) and Scotland and before returning to academia practised for almost ten years in intellectual property, commercial and regulatory litigation. Abbe served for many years on the Technology Law and Practice committee of the Law Society of Scotland and on its Climate Change Working Group and is member of AIPPI and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. The interaction between IP and human rights, and its policy and practical implications is a key theme of her work across climate change, ocean governance, health and communications technology.
