Samantha Mackie

Samantha Mackie is a Principal Associate in Shoosmiths’ Employment team, advising clients across consumer and retail, mobility, technology and living sectors. Samantha is a member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Equalities Sub-Committee. Samantha focuses on employment law, with particular expertise in discrimination, equal pay and TUPE. Samantha has advised on complex collective consultations, defended high-stakes discrimination claims and represented clients in multi-million-pound equal pay litigation. Recent matters include advising a fashion retailer on TUPE transfer of services overseas, defending a public sector employer in a 10-day hearing involving trade union blacklisting and pursuing expenses applications post-hearing. Samantha is recognised as Rising Star of the Year (Scottish Legal Awards 2024), Highly Commended Associate of the Year (The Lawyer Awards 2025) and Associate to Watch (Chambers and Partners 2026). Samantha also writes articles and client briefings on emerging employment law trends. Samantha contributes to initiatives around social mobility and inclusion, mentoring students in partnership with MCR Pathways, and volunteers as a supervising solicitor at the University of Edinburgh’s Free Legal Advice Clinic.
